Bamboo viscose is the fabric people write to us about, and the reason is how it sits. It drapes rather than clings, it feels cool against the skin on a hot morning, and it does not develop the clammy weight a cotton tee gets by midday. What it is not is a technical fabric: it is slower to dry than a polyester knit and it wants a gentle wash. It is the shirt for the drive, the flight and the campsite rather than the shirt for the climb.

The packs are the other half of this page. A three-pack and a six-pack of the same tee are their own cards at their own prices, not an option buried inside one card, and the per-shirt figure drops sharply as the count goes up, so people who settle on a size buy a drawer of them at once rather than one at a time. Fibre content is printed on every card as the label gives it, in descending order by weight, because that is what the labelling rules require of anyone selling clothing. Sizes run XS to 3XL.

Every colourway here is priced on its own; Pioneer Camp pieces keeps the figures current and the till is what decides.

Questions about Pioneer Camp Bamboo Shirts

The soft one in the drawer

Is a Pioneer Camp bamboo tee cooler than cotton?

In the sense that matters, yes: it holds less moisture against the skin and it hangs away from you rather than sticking, so it feels cooler on a hot still day. In direct sun on open ground, a light shirt of any fibre is warmer than shade, and a UPF layer is the thing to reach for instead.

Do Pioneer Camp bamboo tees shrink in the wash?

Viscose does not like heat, and a hot wash and a hot dryer will cost you some length. Cold wash and a low tumble or a hanger, which is what the label asks for. The label sewn into the shirt governs, and where it and this page disagree, the label wins.

Which Pioneer Camp bamboo pack is the best value?

The six-pack works out lowest per shirt and the three-pack is the one most people start with, because a pack of six in a size you have not worn is a large bet. Buy one, wear it once, then buy the pack in the size you now know.
