The men's side of the range leans towards down and towards long coats. Every down jacket in the catalogue is here, and the fill powers run from 650 up to 850: the top of that range is the packable stuff, the jackets that squash into a stuff sack and live in the boot of a car from October. The parkas are the other end: long bodies, seven and nine pockets, and a hood that comes off on most of them.
Around the insulation sits the layering. The sherpa jackets and the knit sweaters are the ones people wear as coats in town; the polar and grid fleeces are what go under a shell on a hill; the rain jackets and the two softshells are the outer skin. If you are building from nothing, the honest order is fleece, then shell, then down: the first two cover most of a year and the third covers the fortnight the first two cannot. Sizes run S to 3XL.

02About these pieces
Cut for men, across four shelves
The long down parkas, and by a distance, they carry the most down and the most jacket. The 850-fill pieces are warmer per ounce but they are cut short and light for carrying, so a 650-fill parka out-warms them in absolute terms. Nothing here is rated to a temperature and none of it should be bought as if it were.
The shells and the insulated jackets are cut with a layer in mind, and most buyers who wear a hoodie under one stay in their usual letter. If the hoodie is a heavyweight sherpa rather than a thin fleece, take the next letter up: the sleeve is where it binds first, not the chest.
The sweaters are a knit, they read as clothing rather than as kit, and they go under a coat or over a shirt in town. The fleece jackets are a brushed pile with a full zip and pockets, warmer for the weight and better at being a layer. The knit is the one to wear to dinner; the fleece is the one to wear up a hill.
